SOFT ARMORED FIGHTING EUROPEAN FEDERATION (SAFE Federation)
Founded in June 2022 as the direct successor to the Russian INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION FOR MODERN SWORD FIGHTING (IFMSF), the SAFE Federation is the European governing body for the Soft Armored Fighting (SAF) discipline ("Soft-Sword") within Medieval Combat. It is also responsible for youth development and junior competition. The SAFE Federation’s ruleset is recognized and applied beyond Europe’s borders.Since 2022, the Federation has hosted the SAF European Championship for both youth categories (ages 4 to 17) and general age categories (18 and above).
The SAFE Federation is headquartered in France. Since June 2025, Austria has held the presidency of the European federation, represented by Heinrich S. Wurzian, BSc.
INTERNATIONAL MEDIEVAL COMBAT FEDERATION (IMCF)
The IMCF was founded in the autumn of 2013 and has been hosting the Medieval Combat World Championship every year since May 2014. The location and host country of the event change annually. The IMCF World Championships are held at the national team level. The IMCF is to Medieval Combat what FIFA is to soccer.
The International Medieval Combat Federation (IMCF) has its official headquarters in Luxembourg.
BUHURT INTERNATIONAL (BI)
Founded in 2023 as the successor organization to the "Buhurt League," Buhurt International is responsible for national and international tournaments as well as championships at the club level. It is comparable to the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League.
Buhurt International is registered in France.
