The 2025 test phase has been successfully completed. The national ranking is now implemented as a regular instrument of ACA. The basis for the ranking system is the Sport and Competition Regulations of ACA (download) as well as the respective valid international tournament and rule sets.

The National Ranking Handbook (download) explains the points allocation and evaluation system in detail.

Athletes are registered for the national ranking at the beginning of each season by their respective clubs using the Athlete Registration for the National Ranking form (download).

The ACA Transfer Agreement (download) regulates the sporting allocation of athletes in cases of club transfers.

The national ranking differentiates between duel categories and group categories, each with independent rankings for different competition formats (e.g. sword & shield, longsword) within the sections of the Medieval Combat sport (e.g. SAF, Buhurt). For Buhurt teams, a separate team ranking is maintained.

The points allocation system is identical for duel and group categories but is applied separately by category. There is no connection between duel and group rankings; results in one category have no influence on the other.

The submission of competition results is the responsibility of the respective event organisers. Results must be submitted proactively by email to ACA using the Competition Results Report (download).

Depending on the tournament category, as defined in the ACA tournament structure (download), results must be submitted no later than 14 days after the event.

The points calculation and entry into the national ranking are carried out centrally by the ACA administrative office.

With the national ranking, ACA establishes a reliable framework for the comparison and recognition of sporting performance, strengthens sport development at both club and federation level, and contributes to the continued professionalisation of Medieval Combat sport in Austria.
