Medieval Combat goes to School
SCHOOL SPORTS
As a modern, trending sport, Medieval Combat is increasingly captivating people of all ages in Austria. At events like the Day of Sport, the School Sports Day, and the ASVÖ Vienna #BeActive Night, the excitement for this sport — especially among children and teens — has been tremendous.
Training with the sport-specific soft-sword equipment (see Youth Development) allows kids and teenagers to channel their extra energy safely, without risking injury to themselves or others. Not only do kids improve their left-right coordination and hand-eye coordination, but they also learn to communicate and interact within a team.
With the "Medieval Combat goes to School" project, we aim to not only raise awareness of this trending sport but also show young people that school sports can offer a refreshing alternative to the usual options. Often, all it takes is a little something different to spark interest in being active.
For this purpose, ARMORED COMBAT AUSTRIA provides trained instructors and equipment, facilitating training sessions with the soft-sword system in schools as part of PE classes or at special events. Under the "Sport for All" principle, there are no costs for students or schools. We are also seeking collaboration with the Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport for this project.
