Austria has participated in every World Championship since 2012. The Austrian national team is cast and assembled annually. The application process consists of a written application, a fitness test, and a qualification tournament. The requirements and the process itself have remained unchanged since 2012. Ultimately, performance at the qualification tournament determines whether an athlete secures a spot on the national team roster for the World Championship.

During the preparation phase leading up to the World Championship, joint training sessions and/or training camps are held to optimally prepare the national team for their participation.
